On the left of Station Road (A22) provide a marked cycle lane between the bus station and Park Road cycle contraflow. This an interim and temporary solution until a ramp can be provided to enable cycles to be pushed up to the pedestrian railway overbridge.Ultimately we see the disused St Margarets Loop developed as a joint pedestrian and cycle way as the means to solve the connectivity problems caaused by the one way A22 Station Road.
How can this be achieved? Safety assessment and recommendation with on street cycle lane markings or realignment of footway and carriageway.
How can all of these measures be achieved? By adoption of measures recommended by consultant -lead study using recognised tools including Ref.1 . Agreement and production of Supplementary Planning Document, which can be used to attract funding from County and national funding streams.
